Are some truck driving schools better than others?

There can be a big difference between the quality of different truck driving schools. You will want to attend a truck driving school that is certified (or has received accreditation) by the state of Minnesota. This means the schools meets high education and training standards.


If I live in northern Minnesota, are there any truck driving schools near me?

There are truck driving schools located throughout the entire state of Minnesota. If there is not one within driving distance, call the school of your choice to see what arrangements they have made with local hotels.


I’ve never liked going to school, should I not bother with truck driving school?
The time you spend at a Minnesota truck driving school is less than time than a typical semester. In fact, the entire course only lasts 3–5 weeks. While truck driving school is not a formal requirement for CDL testing, it is highly recommended.

Yes, there are several payment options and financial aid programs available to you offered by most truck driving schools. Money may also be available through the state of Minnesota and through several of the state’s truck driving companies.

Absolutely! Most truck drivers receive a good wage and benefits. The more experience you have as a truck driver, the better job you can get, and the more you will earn.


I have a CDL, but it is from another state. Can I still drive a tractor trailer in Minnesota?
Before you are able to work in the state, you must pay a small fee and take a written knowledge test to obtain your Minnesota CDL.
